The Global Scale Effort to Get Insights Into Analytics and Promotion of Standards

Research Study

 

IADSS has launched a global scale research study that aims to gain insight about the analytics profession in the industry and help support the development of standards regarding analytics & data science role definitions, required skills and career advancement paths. This will help set some industry standards which in turn could support the healthy growth of the analytics market.

The study reaches out to several hundred analytics leaders and practitioners globally through in-depth interviews and detailed questionnaires as well as extensive review of any existing market insight, social media data etc.

 

Methodology

Insight will be generated via:

 

  • Interviews

  • Surveys and other sources…

 … with the participation of key profiles from major industries and functions

 

 

The target group will be selected from institutions that have a greater need for analytics and have an existing analytics function.

 

All major industries, as well as analytics service providers such as consulting companies, will be covered.

 

 

Although target geography is mainly US, we will aim to have around 25% of participants from international companies in Europe, Latin America and Asia

Build 1-1 communication with top data science & analytics employers to ensure wide-spread communication within the relevant departments (e.g. service providers and corporations)

  • Using social media actively to promote the results of the project

Reach 1 million+ members on top data analytics groups

Target top data science & analytics influencers on LinkedIn, Twitter and Quora to reach their followers

  • Communicating with the academic community through the channels/tools above as well as reaching out directly to top academic programs in data analytics and share the results of the study

 

2. Communicating standards with the larger stakeholder group in analytics world through a press release and direct relationship with key online/offline media

 

  • Top data science & analytics blogs and websites (KDNuggets, Data Science Central, Kaggle etc.)

  • Press release for the larger business community

  • Publications such as McKinsey Quarterly, Strategy & Business, Harvard Business Review to reach senior business leaders

 

3. Series of video interviews with thought leaders (to be selected from key participants of the original research group) to be broadcasted from standards website and social media accounts. Main theme of the interviews will be the need for well-defined standards in various industries.

IADSS Co-founder Usama Fayyad gave a keynote speech at ODSC Boston on May 1st to discuss the professional standards in analytics and data science related roles in the industry.
